VIPPSTAR at EuSAiR

Yesterday and today, our Technology Coordinator, Cesare Furlanello from LIGHT S.c.ar.l. and Laura Zoboli were in Brussels as guests of the EUSAiR project for the 2nd Co-Creation Workshop.

The workshop brought together key actors across the European AI ecosystem, including public authorities, research actors, and civil society, to exchange on current developments around AI in Europe.

As part of the programme, Cesare and Laura presented the VIPPSTAR Regulatory Sandbox, as an EUSAiR pilot, sharing insights from the project’s work on AI supported telerehabilitation.

VIPPSTAR operates in a particularly sensitive space, combining clinically relevant applications with the use of AI systems in real world environments, where considerations around risk, compliance, and data handling become central.

This makes it a valuable case for exploring how AI systems can be developed and implemented in practice, including:

👉 managing risk and compliance requirements

👉 addressing data handling and anonymisation challenges

👉 enabling collaboration across multiple stakeholders and contexts

Bringing this perspective into the EUSAiR discussion was an opportunity to connect research, practice, and policy, and to ground broader reflections in a concrete use case.

Thanks to EUSAiR for facilitating a valuable exchange of insights, contributing to the development of more effective AI regulatory sandboxes in Europe.
